Technical Services Division of Orbital ATK Space Systems Group located in Beltsville, MD, is currently seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer to support the development of spaceflight systems and components from concept through verification and delivery. As part of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) the engineer will be responsible to: Develop structural concepts and perform preliminary sizing using classical mechanics calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to meet stiffness, strength and other critical requirements Support development of fight hardware from preliminary through detailed design, drawing release, manufacturing, integration, verification testing, and transportation, Provide structural engineering and analysis support to the IPT to ensure that the design meets all applicable requirements coordinating schedule, budget and deliverables with the IPT lead. Generate Finite Element Models and perform FEA for normal modes, linear static stress, elastic stability, clearance loss, distortion as well as nonlinear assessments to predict and improve structural response as needed. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of 7 years of experience with Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace, mechanical, or civil engineering or similar discipline required; minimum of 5 years of experience with a graduate degree in one of these fields desirable. Minimum of five years of experience in the aerospace industry performing the duties described above. Working knowledge of NASTRAN FEA software. FEMAP or PATRAN as FEA pre- and post processor. Experience performing classical mechanics and mechanical engineering analyses using Excel and/or MathCad. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Must be comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people at various levels. US citizenship required. Candidate must demonstrate an ability to acquire TS/SCI security clearance. Active TS/SCI clearance strongly preferred. Strong analysis background in the design of aerospace structural systems, materials, load paths, and behavior of structures under all applicable environments including quasi-static inertial, mechanical, vibro-acoustic, thermal, pressure, and shock environments. Design and analysis knowledge of space flight hardware including spacecraft bus and instruments structures, deployables, mechanisms, components such as kinematic mounts, electronic boxes, boards and thermal control systems, optical benches as well as mechanical ground support equipment, Experience with aerospace structural construction using metals, sandwich panels, composite materials, plastics and bonded joints. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
