Database Administrator

IMS is looking for an entry-level Database Administrator who is interested in using their knowledge of relational database analysis and design to make a difference in people's lives and support the biomedical research community.

The Position
IMS supports multiple bioinformatics initiatives from government and commercial institutions in public health and medical research applications. We are looking for a database administrator to design, develop, administer and maintain the integrity, security, and availability of multiple relational databases for our biomedical information systems. Tasks include disaster recovery, performance analysis and tuning, index maintenance, data organization and storage, and database user account maintenance, in compliance with company standards and applicable regulations.

Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Comp Science, Information Science, Math, or related field from a U.S. Department of Education accredited institution with at least a 2.9 GPA
0-4 years of experience
Proficiency with SQL
Knowledge of relational database analysis and design using Postgres, Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, or MS-SQL
Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Perl, Shell Scripting, etc.)
Demonstrated communication and analytical skills
Ability to obtain a security clearance

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
